Dr Ali Nouri, Research Associate, Program on Science and Global Security, Princeton University
Ali Nouri is a Research Associate at Princeton’s Program on Science and Global Security where he works on issues related to biological security. His interests include designing strategies that curb the potential misuse of biotechnology, while ensuring that the benefits of the technology are not hindered. Along these lines, Nouri also works on the UN Secretary-General’s biotechnology and human security initiative, which is intended to promote biotechnology in developing countries, while minimizing the risks. Nouri holds a B.A in Biology from Reed College and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from Princeton University. His dissertation dealt with the role of various genes implicated in a number of human cancers. Prior to coming to Princeton, he was a researcher at the Oregon Health Sciences University, where he studied the mechanism of retrovirus entry into cells.
